Our Investors

Atlas Venture invests in technology and life sciences businesses in the U.S. and Europe through our offices in Boston, London, Munich, and Paris

We don’t just invest in companies.  We partner with them. Our team’s purpose is to apply our operational and venture capital experience to help early-stage companies become successful, high-growth global businesses.

Since we started in 1980, our Partners have helped build over 300 companies in more than 16 different countries. Since 1995, 44 of our companies have been acquired and 47 are now public companies with an aggregate market capitalization of over $15 billion. We are currently investing from our seventh fund and manage over $2 billion in capital.

Balderton Capital is a different kind of venture firm - one that's based on teamwork, superior service to entrepreneurs and an intense dedication to building companies of lasting value.

Unlike other venture firms where partners work independently and even compete for resources, we function as a team. Every partner is invested - both financially and personally - in each other's success.

This unique team approach gives our portfolio companies the benefit of having all of our experienced, well-connected partners working for them, not just one. Whether it's to help recruit executives, facilitate corporate partnerships, or get advice on strategic moves, each company has access to the combined resources of the entire firm.

Matrix Partners has worked with hundreds of startups since its inception in 1977. Its strategy is to invest in companies perceived to be on the cutting edge of creating major new markets in software, communications equipment, semiconductors, storage, Internet and wireless.

With a presence in the two leading technology centers of the United States – Boston and Silicon Valley – Matrix approaches each investment with a view to long-term commitment, since its goal is to build successful, independent companies – not acquisition targets. When making investment decisions, Matrix emphasizes "quality" over "quantity".
